I grew up in a garden on a farm thirteen minutes from my home. It was my grandparent’s farm, a magical place with old barns full of furniture, little corners perfect for curling up with a book and trees that made perfect hiding places, houses and pirate ships.
Morocco has just one glass factory, Verre Beldi. Its story is one of style, obsessively-detailed craftsmanship, and iconic designs. When we decided we wanted our vases to tell stories just like our flowers, we knew our first collection needed to be made in this factory.
As human beings, we have sought out flowers since civilization began. We have given them in times of grief and triumph and to express everything from love to contrition. But why? Certainly there are gifts that would last longer or be more useful, yet we turn to flowers again and again. The answer might just lie in our biology.
